September

September is a great time to begin thinking about planting bulbs for spring color. Soon the stores and catalogues will be filled with daffodils, tulips, crocus, ranunculus, anemones, hyacinth, and freesia. Plant a mixture of these beauties and you’ll be rewarded with a long-lasting show of the most vibrant colors you can imagine!

Though you’ll begin to pull back on watering in October, continue to water during this dry month. Regular watering during September brings a second flush of blooms to some plants, and for others water helps the plant ready itself for winter dormancy.
